A Burnt-Out Office Lady Getting Involved in Another World Summoning, Working Hard as the Guild's 'Monster Dismantler Lady' ~ A Dragon? Of Course I Can Handle It! ~ - Chapter 37
Chapter 37 – Skill Level 6
After acquiring the Orichalcum knife, my life at the Monster Dismantling Counter returned to its usual routine.
The knife felt amazing to use, and I no longer got as tired even after dismantling many monsters. Maybe it was because the knife was enhancing my abilities, or maybe it was simply because my stamina and strength had improved.
With my new partner in hand, I worked even harder.
I wanted to increase my skill level, so I asked for as many D-rank and lower monsters as possible and dismantled them day in and day out.
In my free time, I minced monster meat for the butcher shop owner, filleted fish for the fishmonger using three-part filleting, and cut monster bones for the owner of the armor shop. Dold-san, seeing the frequency of these requests, finally decided to start charging them a fee.
“You’re too nice, Sachi. You need to learn to say no,” he told me, but these requests weren’t actually unprofitable for me.
Using [Dismantle], I could gain experience points regardless of the target.
So even when I fulfilled the requests from the butcher shop and armor shop, I was still earning experience points. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Thanks to all these requests, by the time the leaves began to turn red and yellow, my skill level had successfully reached level 6.
◇◇◇
“Congratulations on leveling up.”
“Thank you! All those days of dismantling monsters have paid off!”
Having been informed by the Voice of Heaven of my level up and the expansion of my dismantling range, I immediately went to Alfred-san to ask him to use [Appraise].
Since he needed to touch my hands to use [Appraise], I held them out to him.
There was a time when I was self-conscious about my unladylike hands, but ever since Gandu-san had called them the beautiful hands of a dedicated worker, I had come to take pride in them. The skin on my fingers might have been a bit rougher than that of an average girl, but they were proof of my hard work every day. It would be disrespectful to ‘myself’ if I were ashamed of them.
“Then, excuse me. [Appraise].”
Seeing me confidently offering my hands, Alfred-san smiled, seemingly pleased. He took my hands in his and closed his eyes.
“Yes, your skill level has increased to 6, and your dismantling range has expanded to include C-rank monsters.”
The result of the appraisal was:
[Gift]: [Dismantle]
Skill Level: 6
Dismantling Target Level: Rank F, Rank E, Rank D, Rank C
Dismantling Targets: Monsters, Animals, Food, Objects
Dismantling Speed: C+

Extra Skill

My dismantling range had expanded to include C-rank monsters, and a new unique skill called [Blood Draining] had been added.
I was really happy to be able to dismantle C-rank monsters. Since B-rank and higher monsters hadn’t been brought in since the stampede, being able to dismantle C-rank monsters meant that I could handle most of the monsters that were brought to the counter. Probably.
And I’m curious about [Blood Draining].
Alfred-san seemed curious about it as well, so we decided to head over to the Monster Dismantling Counter to test it out. The best way to understand something was to try it.
“Dold-san, hello. Would it be alright if I borrowed a workbench for a bit? And if you have any unprocessed monsters, could I have one?”
“Hmm? Sure, go ahead.”
Dold-san readily agreed to Alfred-san’s request. He called out to Nile-san and had him bring over an unprocessed Seven-Colored Bird.
“It’s not blood-drained yet, that okay?”
“Yes, that’s actually perfect.”
Alfred-san and I stood before the Seven-Colored Bird.
Some adventurers would drain the blood from the monsters they slayed before bringing them in, but some would bring them in as they were. Depending on the condition of the monster, we would need to drain the blood by severing the carotid artery in the neck before we could start dismantling.
I wondered how the [Blood Draining] unique skill would be different from the way we usually drain blood.
I exchanged a look with Alfred-san, and when he nodded, I pointed the tip of my knife at the Seven-Colored Bird and activated the unique skill.
“[Blood Draining]!”
As usual, my body moved as if guided by the skill.
Well, it moved, but… all it did was lightly stab the Seven-Colored Bird with the tip of the knife.
“Hmmm?”
That’s it? As I thought that—
『[Blood Draining] of the dismantling target completed. Excess blood has been dismantled and removed at a molecular level.』
The Voice of Heaven echoed in my head.
Wait, I don’t understand what it’s saying.
Next to me, Alfred-san, who had been watching with bated breath, looked confused.
I don’t blame him. It’s hard to understand when all I did was poke the monster and it’s already done.
“I-it seems like it’s done? It says the excess blood has been dismantled at a molecular level…”
“Dismantled at a molecular level…!? C-could it be… Sachi-san, please try making a cut on its neck.”
“Eh, are you sure that’s okay!?”
Knowing that Alfred-san wasn’t good with blood, I was worried about making him see such a thing.
As if reading my mind, he nodded resolutely and said, “It’s okay. Please do it.”
“O-okay… Here goes.”
As instructed, I made a cut on the Seven-Colored Bird’s neck.
I was half expecting Alfred-san to faint, but to my surprise, not a single drop of blood came out of the cut.
“Eh?”
This can’t be.
Eh? Dismantled at a molecular level, does that mean…?
…Wait a minute! Isn’t that exceeding the scope of dismantling!?
“I-incredible…!”
Alfred-san, seemingly understanding the situation, was trembling with excitement.
Well, I guess I get it. If there’s no blood, he wouldn’t have to worry about fainting.
“What’s going on?”
Dold-san, who had been watching from a distance, approached us, unable to contain his curiosity.
I explained the situation to him, and he opened his mouth to me.
“That’s… unbelievable. With just one poke of the knife? This solves the problem with monster blood, doesn’t it?”
Right, almost every part of a monster could be used. The horns, fangs, claws, skin, and of course the meat. But the blood was something we had to deal with separately at the Monster Dismantling Counter.
We had someone at the guild with the [Gift] of [Coagulation], and we always asked him to take care of it. Depending on the monster, the blood might contain toxins, so storing it for extended periods in large quantities was not ideal.
Being able to dismantle the blood meant that all this extra work was no longer necessary.
“Hmph, I thought you couldn’t surprise me anymore, Sachi, but it seems I was wrong. Who knows what other unbelievable things you’ll be able to do next.”
Dold-san chuckled, shaking his head in amusement.
Roland-san and Nile-san, who had also heard the explanation, hugged each other in joy.
“Pipii!”
Sensing the excitement, Pii-chan, who had been curled up in the corner of the Monster Dismantling Counter, flew over.
“It seems Pii-chan is doing well.”
“Kyua!”
Pii-chan responded cheerfully to Alfred-san’s question.
Then, his gaze turned towards the Seven-Colored Bird, still lying on the workstation.
“Pi? Pii Pii!”
“Eh? You want to eat the Seven-Colored Bird? No, you can’t. It was brought here to the Monster Dismantling Counter. If the adventurer who brought it in doesn’t want certain parts, you can have those.”
“Piiii!”
Pii-chan flapped his wings in delight.
His appetite had been incredible lately.
He had been gobbling up all the scraps of monster meat and the leftover parts from the Monster Dismantling Counter. I was grateful that we didn’t have to throw them away, but I couldn’t help but wonder if he was eating too much.
“Has he grown a little?”
See, even Alfred-san was chuckling.
“Yes, he has. Especially around his belly.”
“Piiiiiii-!!”
“Whoa! Sorry, sorry!”
Pii-chan was very offended at being pointed out for his growing belly.
But it was true! He had been eating a lot lately!
He swatted at me with his wings. Maybe he was sensitive about it. I’m sorry!
“Ahahaha… Now now, calm down. It’s good to eat a lot, you know. It’s said that when monsters devour other monsters, they absorb their power and become stronger. With a steady supply of monster meat coming in here, it’s a perfect feeding ground. If you eat lots and grow bigger, you’ll surely become a strong dragon.”
“Pi!”
Soothed by Alfred-san, Pii-chan finally calmed down, seemingly pleased.
To me, Pii-chan was still a cute little baby dragon, but someday he would have to return to where he belonged.
We had grown so accustomed to being together that the thought of his eventual departure brought a pang of sadness to my heart. But when the day came for Pii-chan to grow up and return to nature, I would send him off with a smile.
“Alright, alright. I’ll buy some Seven-Colored Bird meat later and cook it for you.”
“Pii!”
His mood completely restored, Pii-chan flew around near the ceiling of the Monster Dismantling Counter.
We exchanged amused glances at his fickle nature.
For now, we should enjoy this time we have together.
“Pii-chan! Come here!”
“Pyua!”
When I spread my arms wide and called out to him, he flew into my embrace, happy as can be.
I held him close, giving him a big hug.
