After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 24.2
Ji Chi’an held her chin tightly, leaning in so close that the tip of his nose almost brushed hers. Lin Luo instantly held her breath.
—Oh no! His scent is so overpowering, it should be against the rules!
When Ji Chi’an heard this thought, a smirk appeared on his lips. He moved even closer, his mouth coming right beside her ear, and in a low, husky voice, he whispered, “I told you, don’t overestimate yourself. Don’t meddle in anything to do with me. My life is mine to control. Got it?”
His warm breath brushed against her ear, causing her delicate earlobe to flush bright red. She could smell his unique cologne, a mature and masculine scent that left her with no escape.
—AHHH! Help, Mom! I’m going to die here—this man is seducing me!
Seduce her? Now that didn’t seem like such a bad idea to Ji Chi’an.
With a sly smile, he released her chin with one hand and tugged at his collar, loosening his tie slightly. The elegant line of his throat and his defined Adam’s apple were now fully visible to Lin Luo.
—Oh no! I want to bite it! But if I did, would Ji Chi’an kill me?
Bite it? The “little wildcat” was indeed living up to her nickname.
Ji Chi’an had started to feel some comfort after his wounded pride began to heal. Even if Lin Luo kept her secrets and was only by his side due to some mysterious mission, he could still sense her genuine attraction toward him.
If seduction was the way to go, then he was more than prepared to take on the challenge.
“President Ji, do you have any other questions? If not, would you kindly release me from this position? I don’t think it’s very appropriate.” Lin Luo, steadying her breathing, put on a calm, professional smile as if she were entirely unaffected.
—Please, just leave already! Stop with this sofa-kabedon! I’m starting to think you’re about to kiss me! Help!
“Lin Luo,” he said.
“Yes, President Ji? Do you have further instructions?”
“Why is your heart racing so fast? Did you think I was going to kiss you?”
…
“No, President Ji, not at all. Rest assured, I have excellent self-control, and I trust that you have even better self-control.”
—Oh, stop teasing me! If you keep this up, I’m going to start thinking you actually like me! Please, Big Brother Ji, don’t fall for me—I’m the one woman you’ll never have!
The one woman he could never have?
Well, now she had truly piqued his interest. She had just become the woman he had to win, and he’d do whatever it took to make her his. Her secrets and all.
Tilting his head, Ji Chi’an leaned in until his lips were just a hair’s breadth from hers. Lin Luo froze, sensing his breath on her skin as he moved closer and closer, stopping just before his lips met hers.
“Can I take a guess at what you’re thinking right now?”
Guess, my foot!
“You’re thinking I might kiss you, aren’t you?”
“No, not at all!” Lin Luo replied, calm and collected. “But, President Ji, you’re standing awfully close. This isn’t quite proper, you know. Men and women should keep a respectful distance.” She was calm on the surface, but her thoughts told a different story.
—You rogue! If you actually kissed me, should I kick you? And if I kicked you, would you fire me? What would I do if I got fired? Ji Chi’an seems so dignified, yet here he is, toying with his secretary. Isn’t he just a classic wolf in sheep’s clothing?
Wolf in sheep’s clothing?
Oh, Ji Chi’an would have to correct that notion. He would show her that he liked women—specifically, her. And he’d teach her what it really meant to be a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
“Lin Luo.”
“Yes, Mmmph…”
His hand moved to the back of her head, pulling her closer until their lips met. The softness and sweetness of her lips shattered his self-control, and he couldn’t resist deepening the kiss. Just as he was about to go further, she bit down on his lip.
A real bite. Pain shot through him as his lower lip began to bleed, leaving a metallic taste in his mouth.
Lin Luo took advantage of his pain to push him away. “Ji Chi’an, don’t go too far! Do you really think this is okay?!”
Caught off guard, Ji Chi’an stumbled back onto the sofa, his collar now disheveled. He wiped the blood from his lip with the back of his hand, looking at her fiery gaze with an amused smile. “Kissing the woman I like isn’t going too far.”
Lin Luo stood there, completely stunned.
—Wait, what did he just say? He said he likes me? That can’t be right! Anyone can like me, but not him! Definitely not him! Because I could never like him back!
Ji Chi’an paused, his hand still on his lip. Anyone could like her—but not him? Why?
He’d thought she might feel embarrassed or flustered after he kissed her, but instead, her rejection was as clear as day.
His smile faded.
“Lin Luo, I told you that you’re the woman I like, and this is how you react?”
“President Ji, I think you must be exhausted. You should go home and rest. Whatever happened tonight, let’s pretend it didn’t.”
—What reaction should I give? Anyone else can like me, but not you, because fate says we’re only meant to cross paths, not stay together.
Why was she so certain? Why was she convinced they weren’t meant to be? And who did she believe would be right for her?
“What if it were Lin Yuan saying this instead?” he asked.
…
Silence filled the air. Lin Luo neither spoke nor had any thoughts in her mind. She was genuinely contemplating his question. If Lin Yuan had said those words, would she have blushed, smiled, or even kissed him back?
Rage flickered in Ji Chi’an’s eyes. Veins bulged on his hand as he fought to contain his fury. “Answer me.”
“I don’t know.”
—It’s never happened, so how could I guess? Lin Yuan is a dear friend, and I don’t want to ruin that with meaningless assumptions. When the time comes, maybe I’ll know.
Ji Chi’an’s anger erupted. He could see red as he realized that, in Lin Luo’s heart, he wasn’t even as close as Lin Yuan when it came to romantic matters.
Without a word, he moved forward, pinning Lin Luo against the doorframe. His face inches from hers, he decided he’d push her beyond her limits this time, until she’d have no choice but to face her feelings head-on.
📜 “Scroll Down for Kliraz’s Scoop!”
Oh my! Who knew Ji Chi’an had such a bold side? There’s nothing quite like a forceful kabedon scene to make the heart race. But it’s no wonder he’s so intense—Ji Chi’an is feeling territorial, and his pride is on the line. Historically, in Chinese romance, these moments of “forbidden closeness” often serve as a dramatic way for characters to challenge the rules of propriety, creating steamy tension without breaking social norms entirely.
And what about Lin Luo, trying to talk herself out of her feelings? It’s like watching someone deny they’re hungry when they’re staring right at a banquet! In stories, the “forbidden” theme plays out often with the main characters hesitant to cross lines due to circumstances, misunderstandings, or, like here, secrets. What do you think? Is Ji Chi’an’s boldness the push Lin Luo needs? Or will she run the other way? Comment below—let’s hear your take on Ji Chi’an’s tactics!
