After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 24.4
As Lin Luo thought about Ji Chi’an’s words, it dawned on her—maybe there really was something strange about her apartment. Jiang Chen had hinted it might be “off,” but no one had mentioned it would be this unsettling! So why on earth did Ji Chi’an choose to live here?
Before she could ask, Ji Chi’an explained casually, “I picked this place because the master advised it. Said I had too much ‘yang’ energy, and if left unchecked, it’d eventually backfire. This area’s heavy in ‘yin’ energy, so I’m using it to balance things out. Can’t you see? Everything’s going smoothly for me.”
Well… he did seem to be doing exceptionally well.
But what about her? Was she really going to spend the night in a haunted apartment? Dejected, Lin Luo turned back to her door, only to find it firmly shut, her hands empty.
No phone, no ID, no money, and the elevator wasn’t working.
Ji Chi’an seemed to notice her predicament and offered, “Need me to call the property management for you?”
“Thank you, President Ji.”
“… The line you’re calling is busy…”
“… The line you’re calling is busy…”
“… The line you’re calling is busy…”
…Well, wasn’t that just peachy! This place really was haunted! There was no other explanation for all these strange coincidences!
First, Ji Chi’an lost his mind. Then, she was left homeless. Feeling utterly defeated, Lin Luo crouched on the floor, hands tangled in her hair, desperately trying to think of what to do.
Just then, a voice above her sounded like a beacon of hope, “Come wait at my place. You can keep trying to call from there. I can’t just leave you out in the hallway, can I?”
Lin Luo hesitated. A single man and a single woman… together in one apartment?
Ji Chi’an raised an eyebrow. “It’s not like you haven’t stayed at my place before. Did I ever do anything to you?”
Come to think of it, he hadn’t. Usually, it was her who’d pestered him, and she didn’t exactly relish the idea of waiting alone in the hallway.
“Of course, I’m not forcing you. Do as you like.” He began closing the door.
Lin Luo quickly stood up. “Thank you, President Ji.”
Ji Chi’an’s apartment was as sleek and minimalist as hers, an air of luxury wrapped in cool restraint. Lin Luo perched herself on his couch with perfect posture, like a child awaiting praise for good behavior.
Ji Chi’an ignored her, retrieving a robe from his closet and heading into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water filled the silence.
Hearing the water, Lin Luo’s mind drifted to the poolside… then to the sight of his eight-pack abs… and his chiseled v-line that faded into…
Lin Luo! You little pervert!
Inside the bathroom, Ji Chi’an had just shrugged off his clothes when he heard her inner monologue scolding herself for being a “little pervert.” He grinned. So, she liked his abs, did she? And his v-line too? Very well.
Glancing at the robe he’d planned to wear, he decided it looked boring and tossed it into the laundry bin.
When he stepped out, Lin Luo looked up to see a man wrapped only in a towel around his waist, worn especially low.
She swallowed hard, glancing away. “President Ji, be careful not to catch a cold. After all, health is essential for success, and if you get sick, who will run the company?”
Oh, those abs… Would they feel firm or soft? This man was scandalously good-looking, crossing all limits! With a body like that, he could make a fortune as an underwear model if Jiahe ever went under. Lin Luo briefly considered sponsoring him herself—just a little fling, no strings attached. But, alas, that opportunity would never come.
If this had been before, Ji Chi’an might have missed the meaning behind her polite concern. Now, though? Hah. The girl had quite an appetite.
Some girls appeared innocent and sweet but secretly had bold and unfiltered thoughts that could rival a grown man’s.
“Oh, don’t worry. I’m strong,” Ji Chi’an replied as if nothing had happened, moving to the couch right where she couldn’t help but see him. Leaning over, he picked up his teacup, subtly flexing his muscles, watching her cheeks flush.
Then, he added with a frown, “Still haven’t reached the property management?”
Lin Luo sighed. “No.”
Ji Chi’an gave a dry laugh. “Lin Luo, are you trying to play some trick? First, you say it’s haunted. Then, you ‘forgot’ your keys. Now, you ‘can’t’ reach management. Admit it. You’re just trying to stay here for the night. Well, it won’t work on me.”
At this, Lin Luo was certain—earlier, when Ji Chi’an was at her place, he must’ve been possessed. Now this was the real Ji Chi’an—cold, aloof, and infuriatingly full of himself.
She shook her head. “Not at all.”
Ji Chi’an eyed her suspiciously, then said, “Fine. Wait here in the living room. I have a meeting in the morning, so I’ll be heading to bed.” He turned, walked to his room, and locked the door with a loud “click.”
Lin Luo pursed her lips. What did he think she was going to do? Attack him? She muttered to herself, pulling her knees up and curling into a ball on the couch, keeping one ear on the landline in case management finally answered. Waiting and waiting, she eventually drifted off.
When Ji Chi’an opened his door a while later, Lin Luo was fast asleep, curled up into a tiny bundle, shivering slightly as the chill hit her bare legs.
He walked over and gently touched the top of her head, letting out a quiet sigh.
Sometimes, people believe in lies not because they’re convincing but because they’re easier to accept. Lin Luo didn’t realize it, but Ji Chi’an did.
So he didn’t mind her insistence on thinking ghosts existed rather than accepting that he genuinely cared for her. His little wildcat was still young, and he’d wait. He could trick her, spoil her, and ultimately use all the time in the world to make her forgive his shameless possessiveness.
After all, there was no rush.
Leaning down, Ji Chi’an carefully slid one arm beneath her shoulders and the other under her knees, lifting her gently. Step by step, he carried her toward his bedroom, taking extra care not to wake her.
Author’s Note:
The first slip-up has happened, and more spectacular ones are sure to follow! Prepare for Ji Chi’an to get so frustrated he might lose his hair over it, with Lin Luo accidentally exposing herself (again!), Ji Chi’an’s secrets coming to light, and both of them eventually begging for forgiveness…
This story of a devoted bootlicker and a master of shameless flirtation is packed with playful antics, so please keep showing them lots of love~
🧐 “Kliraz’s Curious Cat Corner”
Looks like we’re witnessing Ji Chi’an’s soft side! But don’t be fooled—Ji Chi’an has mastered the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” routine! In old-school Chinese romance tropes, characters like him—darkly tender and possessive—bring a classic charm. In fact, an ancient concept called “yin-yang balance” in relationships explains a lot about their dynamic. Ji Chi’an’s “yang” energy makes him dominant, intense, while Lin Luo’s “yin” energy makes her cautious yet bold. They’re opposites, so it’s no wonder the sparks are real!
And Lin Luo’s “pervy” thoughts? Admit it! There’s a bit of relatable cheekiness here. The “secret thoughts” trope is priceless—letting us see what Lin Luo’s polite words try to hide.
Now, Ji Chi’an’s definitely planning to whittle down her defenses. So, what do you think? Will he keep playing the “haunted apartment” card, or will he crank up the charm even more? Drop your thoughts—what’s he going to pull next?
