Become the Sickly Villain in the Novel - Chapter 35
When they arrived at the amusement park, it was quite lively, even though it was a weekday.
Li Nuo was currently in a state of being curious about everything in this novel world, especially since after crossing over, he had mostly been working due to financial reasons and hadn’t had a chance to enjoy himself.
Excitedly, he wanted to rush inside, but Li Yan pulled him back from behind.
“Brother, it’s best to buy a hat. Also, did you apply sunscreen?”
“I applied it this morning.”
Li Yan frowned. “It’s already almost five o’clock now. I’ve told you before that sunscreen needs to be reapplied every two hours.”
He wasn’t just worrying for no reason. Li Nuo’s skin was extremely sensitive, and whenever he got sunburned, large patches would turn red. Applying aloe vera gel afterwards was always a painful process for him.
“I was in the café, so I didn’t need to reapply. I’ll put some on in a bit.” Li Nuo shaded his eyes with his hand as he gazed into the amusement park.
Sunac Amusement Park was open until 10 PM, and it had many attractions.
He had seen this park on the local recommendations list.
Secretary Yang was currently buying tickets, so the group waited nearby.
“What are you talking about?”
When Mo Chuan walked over, Li Yan moved in front of Li Nuo, blocking him.
Mo Chuan didn’t react much to this. If he were to object every time, it would be exhausting.
Moreover, if a conflict arose in front of Li Nuo, the current him would undoubtedly side with Li Yan.
Ever since losing his memory, Li Nuo had placed great importance on family.
Mo Chuan had plenty of time; there would always be moments when Li Yan couldn’t watch over everything.
Mo Chuan’s approach and Li Yan’s blocking action shielded Li Nuo from the direct sunlight. Li Nuo lowered his hand and responded, “We were talking about sunscreen.”
Mo Chuan nodded in understanding. After a moment of thought, he said, “Wait a moment.”
He then walked towards his car.
A short while later, he returned with a sun protection jacket. “Wear this. It comes with a hat, and it’s brand new. I don’t even remember when I put it in the car.”
Li Nuo glanced at Li Yan, who didn’t object, so he accepted the jacket. “Thanks.”
“No need to thank me. After all, we’re here to have fun. Getting sunburned would be a bit of a waste.” Mo Chuan smiled warmly as he spoke.
When Secretary Yang finished buying the tickets, he turned around and saw the three of them chatting, while Director Qin stood in the shade, absorbed in his phone.
Seeing someone who usually avoided places like this actually here, Secretary Yang couldn’t help but smile.
In truth, there were many other options, but curiosity struck when searching for a destination.
With the addition of Li Nuo, would Director Qin, who originally preferred quiet places, be willing to obediently follow along?
Unexpectedly, he came along.
Honestly, when he received Mo Chuan’s call earlier while driving, he had feared his plans would fall through. But after a few words, the call abruptly ended, and further attempts to call back were met with no answer.
Though unsure of what had transpired, since there had been no change in plans, he headed straight for the amusement park.
Now, he was certain—whenever Li Nuo was present, the tolerance level of the two directors soared to unimaginable heights.
This was far more interesting than handling multi-billion-dollar projects.
Since meeting the two in college, he had never seen anything like this.
The seemingly affectionate yet emotionally detached Mo Chuan and the always aloof Qin Xu both surprisingly conceded.
Secretary Yang, smiling broadly, ran towards the group, “I’ve got the tickets. Let’s head in.”
With a shield now in place, there was no need to fear anything.
Of everyone present, only Li Nuo enthusiastically responded to him.
The group entered the amusement park one by one. The pairing was so unusual that they attracted curious glances from the surrounding people.
“Have we ever come to an amusement park together?” Li Nuo, walking ahead, asked Li Yan.
“No, never,” Li Yan shook his head.
When they were kids, there wasn’t much to do at amusement parks. Later, after Li Nuo was diagnosed with a heart condition, such places were completely out of the question.
“So, today is our first time.”
Smiling brightly, Li Nuo pointed to the roller coaster. “Let’s go on that.”
Following the direction of his finger, Li Yan’s expression turned serious, “Absolutely not.”
“It could hurt your heart. Such thrilling rides are definitely out of the question.”
“Ugh—” Li Nuo pouted in dissatisfaction.
Being so close yet unable to enjoy many popular attractions was its own kind of torment.
“Sorry, but you really can’t go on those rides,” Li Yan whispered comfortingly.
With a sigh, Li Nuo resigned himself. “Alright, then you go in my place. I’ll take pictures from below.”
“Hmm?”
Ignoring Li Yan’s confusion, Li Nuo turned to the others.
Catching his gaze, Secretary Yang immediately raised his hand, indicating he was up for it too.
“I’ll go as well. I’ll make sure to experience it fully for Li Nuo’s sake. I’ll sit in the front—don’t worry.”
“Great!”
Relieved, Li Nuo nodded in anticipation.
Mo Chuan chuckled, “Only kids go on that ride.”
“Director, what are you talking about? The children’s roller coaster is over there.”
Looking in the direction Secretary Yang pointed, they saw a small, low roller coaster with gentle dips.
Seeing this, Mo Chuan smirked mischievously and said to Li Nuo, “If you want to go on a roller coaster, why not ride that one?”
“That’s for kids.”
“Aren’t you one? A kid?”
“…Who are you calling a kid?”
Li Nuo shot him a glare. He wasn’t at the point of fighting with kids for a seat just yet.
He was about 1.7 meters tall, but standing with this group made him look smaller.
“Director, aren’t you going on the roller coaster?”
“I’m not interested in that.”
“Are you scared?”
“…Are you seriously asking me that?” Mo Chuan raised an eyebrow in surprise.
Li Nuo shook his head, “No, I’m using reverse psychology.”
“Haha,” Mo Chuan laughed heartily. He enjoyed Li Nuo’s honesty.
Though he liked him, teasing was still in order.
“Children can’t ride it, so adults have to do it for them. Sigh—looks like it’ll take some more time to grow up.”
“……”
“I’ll be sure to give my thoughts on it later.”
Li Nuo pouted at him, then turned to Qin Xu.
“Director Qin, aren’t you going?”
“Do you want me to go?”
“Of course, it’s more fun when everyone joins in.”
Looking at the pouting Li Nuo, Qin Xu, who had no interest in the rides, muttered without thinking, “If you want me to, I’ll go.”
So, the five of them headed to the ticket booth. Secretary Yang and Li Yan went to buy four tickets.
“Buying new tickets again feels like a rip-off.”
Li Nuo looked up at the people screaming on the roller coaster. Because it was built quite high, he had to tilt his head up to watch, his gaze following the fast-moving roller coaster on the track.
As his neck bent at an awkward angle, it was gently supported.
Turning his head, he saw Mo Chuan.
“Be careful, you’ll strain your neck.”
“Oh.”
“But why are you so interested in this ride?”
“Because I want to try it once, to feel what it’s like to scream high up in the air.” Li Nuo murmured, staring ahead.
Seeing his regretful expression, Mo Chuan said nothing, knowing it wasn’t possible for him to go on the ride.
He simply patted Li Nuo’s head.
“It’s nothing to regret. The wind messes up your face.”
“Oh, does that mean you’ll also get ugly later? I’m going to take a picture!” Li Nuo excitedly pulled out his phone and adjusted the camera settings.
Mo Chuan, laughing in exasperation, changed his hand from rubbing his head to giving a light pat, “It goes too fast. You won’t get a good shot.”
Li Nuo’s quick shift in mood was jaw-dropping, reminiscent of a baby. Was it because of his amnesia that the world seemed so simple and joyful to him?
While Mo Chuan pondered this, Secretary Yang and Li Yan returned with the tickets, and the four of them headed for the ride.
Li Nuo stood below, phone in hand, ready to capture the moment.
The only one happy was Secretary Yang, while the other three wore expressions of complete disinterest, which annoyed the staff who wondered why they were even on the roller coaster.
He started the ride faster than usual.
But Secretary Yang remained the only one having fun.
Though the track seemed long, speed was the essence of roller coasters, so the ride ended quickly.
The group emerged, fixing their hair. Despite using styling products, the wind had gotten the better of them.
Li Nuo was busy reviewing the video he had taken, but only managed to capture the start and when they passed overhead.
“Ugh, it’s not very clear.”
Mo Chuan leaned over to look. “I told you it wouldn’t come out well.”
Li Nuo raised his phone and snapped a photo of him. “This works too.”
The picture showed all four of them, their hair still messy from the ride.
Li Nuo smiled in satisfaction.
When Mo Chuan made a move to snatch the phone, Li Nuo immediately ran off, hiding behind Li Yan and making a funny face at him.
All four of them were looking at the camera, with their hair disheveled—it is such a rare photo, how can it possibly be deleted?
With that ride done, they headed off to the next attraction.
Li Nuo took one last look at the roller coaster before turning away.
But Li Yan pulled him back, pointing to the kids’ area. “Let’s try that. It should be fine. I checked with Brother He.”
“…I already said I’m not a kid.”
“Who said only kids can ride it? There are adults accompanying kids too. As long as you meet the weight requirement, it’s fine.”
“But…”
“If you don’t go, you’ll regret it. Come on.”
Under Li Yan’s lead, the group headed to the mini roller coaster.
The five adults were quite conspicuous, especially since four of them were dressed in formal wear.
Even the ticket clerk gave them a strange look.
Secretary Yang laughed, “Don’t mind us, we can ride, right?”
“Except for that one, the rest of you will have to weigh in. If the machine sounds an alarm, you can’t ride.”
Naturally, the excluded one was Li Nuo, as he looked rather thin.
Fortunately, despite their height, none of the four were overweight.
The group all got seated, and after the staff ensured everything was secure, they gave the signal to start.
“Wow,” the small car slowly started moving.
Saying he wasn’t nervous would be a lie. Li Nuo glanced at his watch, and his heart rate was rising. He tried his best to calm down.
Despite being a small roller coaster, there were a few sharp turns, and the speed wasn’t too slow.
By the time Li Nuo got off, his watch had already flashed red, causing a panicked Li Yan to quickly help him sit down.
“I’m fine! And you all better not say anything.” Li Nuo stubbornly tried to save face, frustrated by how sensitive the watch was.
Qin Xu turned his face away, and Mo Chuan tried hard to stifle his laughter.
Secretary Yang had already run off to buy water.
After calming down, he handed a bottle to Li Nuo.
“Thank you. It is quite hot.”
Secretary Yang and Li Yan had already taken off their jackets before getting on the ride. Even the well-dressed Qin Xu and Mo Chuan had now removed their jackets, holding them in their hands.
Li Nuo looked around. “Let’s go eat that.”
Following the direction of his finger, they saw an ice cream shop.
As they ate ice cream, they finally cooled off from the summer heat.
“Let’s eat here first and wait until it cools down a bit before playing more,” Secretary Yang suggested.
The amusement park had a restaurant inside, and after finishing their meal, the sun had finally set, and the temperature had dropped a little.
All sorts of lights came on.
Li Nuo pulled the group onto the carousel, smiling brightly.
The memory of the first time visiting the amusement park, even the scorching wind that brushed past, felt poetically beautiful.
