After finally waiting for Xi Yu to fall asleep, she kept fearing that Shi Qi might burst out of the wardrobe.

Gently lifting the arm resting on her waist, she tiptoed out of bed, not even daring to put on shoes, walking barefoot on the carpet to avoid making any noise that could wake him.

Quietly pushing the door open, she peeked inside, softly calling out Shi Qi’s name.

With a thud, a figure sprang out from the wardrobe, crawling on the ground for a moment before standing up, smiling at her like an innocent child.

She placed a finger to her lips to signal him to be quiet, soothingly patting his head, though she had to stand on tiptoe due to their height difference.

Perhaps comforted by her touch, or simply enjoying it, he knelt back down, wrapping his arms around her waist, rubbing his face against her waistline.

“Stop that!” she whispered urgently, feeling ticklish. She quickly pushed his head away and glanced back at the bed, relieved to see that Xi Yu was still asleep before daring to speak again.

She crouched down, gently touching Shi Qi’s face, and asked, “Can you speak?”

The man first shook his head, then hesitated before struggling to utter a few words, “Yes, a little.”

“Good boy, let’s go to the guest room.”

She helped him up, holding his hand like a child, leading him out.

Once the guest room door was closed, she finally felt a bit more at ease.
