Regression Guidelines For the Supporting Character - Chapter 48
In the item shop cart, there were items I had purchased before but never taken out. Among them, I retrieved the “Regressor Growth Package” and the “Status Window Expansion Ticket.” As soon as I did, the items appeared in midair, just like when items were taken out of my inventory. The “Regressor Growth Package” appeared as a green gift box, while the “Status Window Expansion Ticket” looked like a rolled-up piece of old parchment.
Seeing the two suddenly materialized items, Cha Sahyeon tilted his head in curiosity. I wanted to use them secretly without showing them to Cha Sahyeon, but it wasn’t the right situation for that.
‘Sigh, I should have checked these out earlier instead of putting it off because it was annoying.’
I was so disappointed with the divine power skill, which I paid a hefty price for, that I didn’t even think to look at the other items.
I examined the parchment first. As I turned it over in my hands, a status window appeared.
[Status Window Expansion Ticket]
Tear the parchment in half to use it.
Allows you to view detailed item descriptions, hidden stats, and additional notifications.
Fortunately, the Status Window Expansion Ticket was quite a decent item. Without hesitation, I unfolded the parchment and tore it in half.
Ding!
《You have used the Status Window Expansion Ticket!》
《Updating… Please wait a moment.》
《Loading…….》
《Status window update complete.》
《You can now view item descriptions.》
《Hidden stats are now displayed.》
《Additional notifications will now appear.》
With the notification that the item had been used properly, the torn parchment turned to dust and disappeared. At the same time, a new status window appeared.
Ding!
[Dawn Blade]
A weapon crafted from the heart of an Assault beast, said to be strongest at dawn, and a crystal imbued with frost.
Allows for swift and sharp attacks characteristic of one-handed swords.
Attack Power: S
Balance: S
Defense: C
These were the stats of the sword I was holding.
Until now, the status window only appeared for the identified “antagonist” Cha Sahyeon and the three “main characters,” but thanks to the expansion ticket, I could now see the abilities of items as well.
‘I expected it, but I didn’t think it would provide this much detail.’
Being able to see the effects of items was a huge advantage. I immediately checked the second cash item, the “Regressor Growth Package.”
When I opened the box, I found a unique bottle containing a red liquid, a small yellowish fruit, a paper that looked like a talisman, and a red orb.
[Recovery Potion]
A potion that instantly heals wounds. Drink the liquid in the bottle to recover quickly.
[Skill EXP Boost Fruit]
A special fruit that can raise the grade of one skill. Consume it while thinking of the skill you want to enhance. Each fruit raises the skill by one grade.
[Tower of Trials Entry Ticket]
An entry ticket to the Tower of Trials. Enter the Tower to train your skills and combat techniques, and challenge your limits. The ticket can only be used once.
[Combat Power Boost Orb]
Swallow the orb to temporarily increase combat power. (Duration: 5 minutes)
Thanks to the status window expansion ticket, I could easily understand the effects of each item.
Fortunately, none of the four items had an expiration date, so I could use them whenever necessary. I put the Tower of Trials Entry Ticket and the Combat Power Boost Orb into my inventory for later use.
What remained were three Recovery Potions and three Skill EXP Boost Fruits.
‘Using these Recovery Potions on the injured is an option.’
However, if someone asked about these potions, it would be difficult to explain. Besides, Kwon Taehyeok would likely be near the injured, and he would surely find the potions suspicious.
‘There’s a better way to use them.’
I decided to save the potions for a time when my life might be in danger. Instead, I grabbed one of the Skill EXP Boost Fruits and began to eat it.
‘Divine Power skill.’
My target was the C-class Divine Power skill I obtained through a skill capsule. I focused on that healing skill as I chewed the fruit.
Seeing me suddenly take out and eat a strange fruit from my inventory, Cha Sahyeon’s expression grew even more curious.
Feeling a bit sorry since I couldn’t share the fruit with him, I patted his head while continuing to chew. There wasn’t time to savor the taste. Fortunately, the fruit was juicy, so it didn’t get stuck in my throat.
Ding!
《Your Divine Power skill has increased to B-class due to the fruit’s effect.》
Ding!
《Your Divine Power skill has increased to A-class due to the fruit’s effect.》
Ding!
《Your Divine Power skill has increased to S-class due to the fruit’s effect.》
After swallowing all three fruits, my C-class skill successfully increased to S-class.
It felt like a waste to use such valuable items just to enhance the Divine Power skill, but there was no choice. I wanted to ensure no one died because of the second rift in this life.
Once I confirmed the skill upgrade, I immediately started taking off my clothes. I removed my hat, mask, denim jacket, and even my shirt and pants, then put them all into my inventory. I changed into the new clothes I had prepared in advance.
Since I was about to go treat people, I couldn’t wear the same clothes I had been using as Cover.
Seeing me undress and change, Cha Sahyeon, eyes wide in surprise, quickly created a round barrier of shadows around us. Even though no one was around, I appreciated his thoughtfulness.
“Hmmm…”
After changing into clean clothes, I touched my left shoulder. It was the spot I had injured earlier during the battle with the monster. Blood was still flowing from the wound, and it would soon soak my new clothes. Even though I couldn’t mask the smell of blood, I needed to at least look presentable.
I decided to add another layer. Instead of putting the sword away, I took out a robe.
[Wisdom of the Sky]
A robe made from special fabric that enhances defense.
Embellished with Canary’s Tear gemstones, it shimmers subtly, and its deepening blue hue evokes the sky.
Attack Power: F
Balance: S
Defense: S
+Special Defense: A
As expected, it was an excellent defensive item, just like the sword. I put on the robe, covering my wound.
“Let’s go, kid.”
Now, I was ready.
After a short, deep breath, I took Cha Sahyeon’s hand and walked toward the main road where Kwon Taehyeok and the Yesung Guild members were.
Just in case, I reminded Cha Sahyeon, “Don’t use your skill in front of people, okay?” The kid nodded quietly as he followed.
“Are there more injured people?”
“When is the Support team arriving?”
“Move the injured over here!”
“Guildmaster, what should we do? I contacted the Support team leader, and they said they’re taking a detour because the road is blocked.”
“How long will it take?”
“At least 10 more minutes… we’ll have to wait.”
“Ten minutes? They could die any moment now!”
“Damn it, if we only had some healing items…!”
In that short time, the atmosphere had become incredibly dire. The guild members, watching their comrades on the verge of death, couldn’t hide their anxiety. Kwon Taehyeok’s expression was no different as he looked at his wounded guild members, bleeding and barely conscious, facing the reality that they had to hold out for another 10 minutes.
Amid this tense situation, blinking calmly, he finally spoke, “Do whatever it takes to help the injured last a bit longer. I’ll go and bring the Support team myself.”
“What? But, Guildmaster, you’re injured as well. If you move in this condition…”
“The Support team can’t get through because of the building debris. If I clear the debris, they can get here faster. So…”
I couldn’t let him go like this. I quickened my pace, approaching Kwon Taehyeok, and called out to him, “Guildmaster of Yesung.”
Hearing my voice, Kwon Taehyeok flinched and quickly turned around. “Hunter Cha Seohu? How did you get here…?”
Kwon Taehyeok, visibly surprised, glanced at me and then at Cha Sahyeon, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. I awkwardly scratched my cheek and tried to look unassuming.
“I’m sorry. My younger brother, who I sent ahead with the Support team, got lost looking for me. I came here to find him.”
“This place is dangerous. Monsters were roaming around just a moment ago. How could you recklessly bring your brother…!”
“We just arrived. And it looks like the monsters have already been dealt with. These people here, they got hurt fighting the monsters, right?”
At my question, Kwon Taehyeok seemed to regain his composure and clicked his tongue in frustration. “Even if the monsters have been dealt with, there might still be some left. Stay here and don’t move. I have to…”
“I heard. The Support team can’t get through to help the injured.” I grabbed Kwon Taehyeok’s arm as he was about to dash off. “Can I help?”
“What…?”
“With the treatment.”
Kwon Taehyeok’s black eyes wavered at my response. Smiling, I added, “Actually, I have a healing skill.”
