The Days When the Dimensional Demon Was Adored by Countless Zergs - Chapter 10
Astor suddenly sat up, his forehead covered in cold sweat.
He stared at his palm as if looking at some kind of monster. These hands that had taken countless lives were now trembling. His heart was once again engulfed by a large shadow called fear.
Astor took a moment to recover, then slowly got out of bed, went to the bathroom to shower, changed into clean clothes, and prepared to deal with some matters.
At this time, the doorbell of the suite rang.
Astor checked the monitor and found it was actually Damien. The young drone was wearing pajamas, his medium-length curly hair a bit messy, standing outside the door in slippers.
Before going to bed, Astor had deliberately granted Damien access, telling him to come find him if anything happened.
Damien was clearly very mindful of etiquette.
The door had already automatically opened for him, but he hadn’t just walked in. Instead, he rang the doorbell and waited outside.
In the real-time footage, Damien’s expression seemed uneasy.
Astor immediately went out to greet him.
The moment he saw Damien, he realized the young drone was about to cry.
Astor felt incredibly distressed and led Damien into the suite, asking, “What’s wrong, can’t sleep?”
Damien didn’t know whether he should tell Astor the truth.
He had a nightmare where Astor was locked in prison. In the dream, Astor was skin and bones, haggard, his dirty golden hair matted. He sat against the wall, motionless, not responding no matter how much Damien called out. Then two female-zergs carried him away to a small room.
Damien didn’t dare to think about what happened next.
How could it be? It was just a dream.
Wasn’t Astor standing right in front of him, perfectly fine? He finally decided to conceal the truth and only said, “I had a very scary dream.”
Astor made him a cup of milk and handed it to him. Damien thanked him and took it.
Astor watched him drink it all before asking, “What kind of dream?”
Damien shook his head, “I can’t remember clearly.”
Astor didn’t press further. He led Damien to the guest room of the suite, “You can sleep here tonight. Don’t be afraid, I’ll stay with you.”
The room was now lit with a dim night light. Damien lay down and was covered with a blanket. Astor’s handsome face was bathed in a thin layer of light, his gray-blue eyes seeming even clearer.
Damien looked at him and thought again of the ‘Astor’ who had already died in his dream. That Astor’s eyes were a gloomy, deep blue, without a trace of light, lifeless. Damien couldn’t help but reach out and grasp Astor’s wrist. Thankfully, it was warm.
Astor misunderstood his intention and wrapped Damien’s hand in his own, patting his blanket reassuringly.
Damien asked him, “Astor, are you going to sleep tonight?”
Astor said, “Don’t worry, I’ll wait until you fall asleep before I leave.” This probably meant he would go back to sleep afterwards, Damien thought. He didn’t want to be separated from Astor.
“This bed is very big, we can sleep together.”
Damien never had friends before, but now that he had Astor, he wanted to do all the things that normal friends do together.
Like sleeping in the same bed, traveling together, treating each other to meals, giving gifts on birthdays, maybe arguing but quickly making up… Well, the last one could be left out.
Damien looked expectantly at Astor, who showed no reaction, his bright red eyes full of pleading.
Only Astor knew that he was about to explode inside. For a drone to say to a female-zerg, “Let’s sleep together,” was absolutely a blatant suggestion.
But Damien didn’t understand any of this. It was his first contact with other zergs, and he was still in the sub-adult stage.
In Astor’s eyes, he was just a child who hadn’t grown up yet. His current request was only seeking some warmth after having a nightmare.
But Astor’s ear tips still turned red. He desperately suppressed the blood rushing to his face and after a long while, squeezed out a “Okay.”
Damien was overjoyed! He happily shifted over, facing Astor, the warm light reflected in his eyes, shining brightly. Astor lay down stiffly, on his back, not directly facing Damien.
Even so, Damien was very satisfied and fell into a deep sleep within minutes. The honey-like pheromones surrounded Astor. He inhaled this scent and closed his eyes.
This time there was no prison, no execution chair. Only a vibrant prairie, newly bloomed flowers swaying in the wind, stunningly beautiful. He too fell into dreamland.
The next day brought good news: the translation system had been initially upgraded successfully, waiting for Damien to test it.
Astor configured a set of terminal equipment for Damien, similar to a watch fixed on his wrist. Generally, terminal equipment requires inserting a citizen ID card, but Damien didn’t have an official identity yet.
However, it was still good for use as a simultaneous translator or for browsing the StarNet, functions that didn’t require an ID. Astor encouraged him, “Try saying something.”
Damien thought for a moment and said in Feiyin language, “Thank you all for your hard work, I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”
The military female in charge of technical development smiled and replied in Common Language: “This is our duty, Your Grace.”
The conversation was recorded and translated through the terminal, then broadcast through a micro-earpiece. Damien widened his eyes in amazement.
This world was too advanced for him, with many things difficult to understand. For example, creatures without wings could leave the ground and fly in space, and now, a small wristband could bridge the language gap.
They tested some more common dialogues, confirming there were no major issues, finally freeing Astor from being a translation machine.
Since Damien could now communicate without obstacles, Astor decided to take him to Aquarius 7, the planet closest to Aquarius 9, for a trip and to do some shopping.
Unlike Aquarius 9, which was covered in green, Aquarius 7, seen from space, was a predominantly blue planet, with 90% of its surface covered by oceans and only 10% land.
Damien thought the Deep Voyage Fleet was impressive enough, but when docking at the space port, the massive fleet guarding Aquarius 7 refreshed his understanding.
Astor explained to him, “The Deep Voyage Fleet is just a special task force, belonging to the smaller type of fleet.”
Huge ships no smaller than the Deep Voyage cruised through space, while transport ships and passenger sightseeing ships docked at the port according to instructions.
Astor traveled light this time, with only himself, Damien, and his adjutant. They boarded a unified flying ship with other tourists, heading to their destination, Sei City.
When they actually stood in the steel forest of reinforced concrete, Damien was almost dazzled.
To prevent getting separated from Damien, Astor installed a program on the terminal that would alert them if the two terminals exceeded a certain distance.
There was a small cart selling cold drinks by the roadside. Astor took Damien to queue and bought an ice cream cone. Damien hesitantly licked it gently, and his eyes immediately lit up.
Delicious!
He promptly handed the untouched side to Astor: “This is delicious, try it.”
The owner of the cold drink cart whistled and teased, “So loving, are you here on a trip?” Astor’s ears, visibly, turned red again.
