The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 27
The sentence that just echoed was exceedingly familiar.
Jiang Shu reached out to Father Jiang: “I want to see your phone.”
Father Jiang hid the phone behind his back, trying to explain, “We weren’t watching anything—Jiang Shu!”
Jiang Shu had already jumped behind him and, while he was speaking, she took the opportunity to press his screen-off button.
The projection screen once again displayed an image, precisely the scene of her embarrassment in the Small Fishing Village when she asked Old Man Wang who he was.
This was obviously not a trailer. Jiang Shu’s eyes widened: “Dad!” she loudly accused, “You and Mom are watching the final cut in advance!”
“This isn’t the final cut. The final edit isn’t done yet; this is just some behind-the-scenes footage.” Father Jiang tried to salvage the situation, “And I’m an investor, so what’s wrong with reviewing some of the footage—”
He met Jiang Shu’s glaring gaze, paused, and then raised his hands in surrender: “It’s Dad’s fault, Dad won’t watch anymore.”
Father Jiang turned off the projection screen and took out his phone: “Weren’t you going to add the contact of the person in charge?”
He explained the situation to the Assistant and got the team’s leader’s WeChat, then handed it to Jiang Shu: “Here it is.”
He gestured to Mother Jiang, “Come on, let’s go downstairs to eat.”
.
Jiang Shu added the leader as a contact after dinner.
Pei Wang had already left the Jiang Family residence. Father Jiang and Mother Jiang mentioned they had something to discuss, and the two went into the study together, even locking the door.
They were in quite a hurry. Before the door closed, Jiang Shu even heard Mother Jiang urging, “Hurry, play it quickly!”
Jiang Shu: “……”
Jiang Shu sighed.
Though the behind-the-scenes footage was somewhat embarrassing, her parents were only concerned for her and Pei Wang.
She decided to pretend she didn’t know.
Jiang Shu, holding her phone, entered her room.
The friend request had already been accepted, and the leader proactively sent a message.
[Shen Yu]: Hello, I am an agent at Jiang Entertainment, my name is Shen Yu.
[Shen Yu]: I have already heard about your situation. Could you please send your Weibo account information? The team will have someone manage it.
[Shen Yu]: If you want to post on this account, please contact me first to check the content before sending. If you really enjoy using Weibo, you might consider creating a new small account.
[Shen Yu]: Our team will strive to secure new opportunities for you. Do you prefer participating in variety shows or acting in dramas? I suggest acting in a drama first, as having a work to your name gives a newcomer more confidence.
Very professional, and very polite.
Jiang Shu licked her lips, tilted her head in thought, and then edited her response and sent it.[Jiang Shu the Writer]: Hello, I’m Jiang Shu. As for career planning, you can make the arrangements.
She sent over her account and password.
Soon, a message came back.
[Shen Yu]: Alright, we’ll help you find suitable scripts. Are you free tomorrow? You can come to the company for a meeting, and we can discuss things in detail.
Jiang Shu certainly had the time. She arranged a meeting with Shen Yu and headed out early the next morning.
Jiang Entertainment wasn’t located in the main office building; it had its own independent building situated in the outskirts of Jing City.
Father Jiang had never brought her here before.
And now she was stopped at the front of the building.
The receptionist pushed the visitor registration form towards her: “Who are you here to see? You’ll need to register first, and then contact the person to come down and meet you.”
Jiang Shu blinked at the receptionist, took the pen, and filled in her name on the form, then contacted Shen Yu.
She sat on a sofa in the lobby, resting her head on her hand as she waited for Shen Yu.
The elevator lights soon flickered, and Jiang Shu leaned forward, but it wasn’t Shen Yu who stepped out. Instead, it was a male artist with a punk hairstyle.
Seeing Jiang Shu, he walked straight over: “Here to sign as a new artist?”
Jiang Shu thought he was sent by Shen Yu to meet her, so she nodded and was about to stand up from the sofa when the man commented disdainfully, “Dressed so plainly?”
He scrutinized Jiang Shu critically: “There’s too much of the cute and pure type in the industry; even if you sign, you won’t get any opportunities.”
Then he bent over, lowering his voice: “Want some resources?” He pushed his phone forward slightly, revealing his WeChat QR Code, insinuating, “You can come to me.”
Annoyed by his pestering, Jiang Shu shifted a bit to the side, waiting for Shen Yu to come down while tilting her head to look at this punk-styled man: “What for?”
She flashed a smile with her perfectly aligned teeth: “To report you to the police?”
The punk artist frowned and was about to say more when the elevator door opened again, and a woman in a suit with short hair stepped out, calling, “Miss Jiang.”
It was clearly Shen Yu.
Jiang Shu’s face brightened; she stood up from the sofa and jogged over to Shen Yu’s side: “Hello!”
The punk artist was visibly surprised. “Sister Shen?” He glanced at Jiang Shu, hesitated a moment, and asked, “Is this a new artist you’re bringing in?”
He appeared puzzled and uncertain.
Just days ago, during a company meeting, Shen Yu had applied, stating she wouldn’t be taking on new artists. Yet here she was making an exception—
Cui Mingxuan lowered his voice, somewhat nervously asked, “What’s the background of this newcomer?”
Shen Yu cast a cold glance at him: “Can’t you hear?”
She never quite liked Cui Mingxuan; his private dealings were reportedly unsavory. Since his own early career struggles, he tended to torment newcomers once he gained some success.
However, he hadn’t directly crossed her path, and he wasn’t under her management, so she hadn’t concerned herself with him.Shen Yu emphasized her tone a little: “I called her Miss Jiang.”
Cui Mingxuan belatedly realized the situation. His face turned pale, and he looked anxiously at Jiang Shu, intending to apologize, but before he could say anything, Jiang Shu had already entered the elevator with Shen Yu.
Shen Yu swiped the access card and turned her head to glance at Jiang Shu: “Did he bully you?”
Jiang Shu shook her head and obediently answered: “He hinted that I should seek him out for backdoor deals.”
Shen Yu sneered: “Such indecent behavior.”
The elevator doors opened again as she led Jiang Shu into the office. “Ignore him, and if he dares to bother you, you can contact me directly.”
Shen Yu paused and then remembered something: “Or you can talk to President Jiang.”
Jiang Shu nodded seriously: “I understand.”
Shen Yu acknowledged this with a nod, then picked up a notebook from the table, pen in hand, and observed Jiang Shu for a moment: “Are you still a student?”
“Yes,” Jiang Shu replied, nodding. “I’m studying at the Beijing Film Academy in the Department of Acting.”
Shen Yu frowned: “Can you take time off? Can you stay long-term with a crew?” She thought of another serious question: “Can you act?”
Jiang Shu pondered this, somewhat hesitant: “Probably…?”
Shen Yu shut the notebook in her hand decisively: “I see.”
She chatted with Jiang Shu for a while longer before standing up: “I’ll help you create a development plan here and send it along with selected scripts in a couple of days.”
After placing the notebook on the table and preparing to sit behind it, Shen Yu remembered something and turned to ask: “Do you want me to see you out?”
She thought Cui Mingxuan probably wouldn’t be foolish enough to harass Jiang Shu again, but just in case he was really stupid.
Shen Yu took a step forward, ready to walk over, but Jiang Shu waved her hands quickly: “No need, no need.”
As she left the office and pressed the elevator button, her phone suddenly rang.
Father Jiang was calling; he cheerfully asked: “Shu’er, did you meet her?”
“Yes, I did,” Jiang Shu replied. “She’s a very capable young lady.”
Father Jiang laughed: “That’s great. How did your meeting go?”
Jiang Shu briefly recounted the conversation, and Father Jiang praised: “Very efficient.”
He then asked: “The company’s foundation is currently preparing a charitable project. Would you be interested in coming over to take a look?”
Jiang Shu was tempted.
But after two days of visiting Jiang Enterprises’ headquarters, she felt like she had fallen into a big trap.
It’s summer vacation; shouldn’t she be comfortably relaxing at home? Why was she here, getting a head start on being a corporate slave?
Reflecting on this, Jiang Shu resolutely took out her phone and openly started slacking off.
After not checking her phone for half a day, she received a bunch of the latest trending news notifications. Jiang Shu tapped into them and saw some familiar names trending.
#Where did Qu Mei and Yu Zhen go?
#Pei Wang, my ideal boyfriend
As she scrolled further down, she noticed two more lines at the bottom of the trending list.
#Qiao Xian, I still love you
#Lin Hui and Wang Siyuan, relaxing type of guests
Jiang Shu paused for a moment and realized it was already Thursday, the broadcast time for “Let’s Reconcile.”
With some anticipation, she opened the media player, found the recommendation for the show on the homepage, and clicked in.
It began by showing each guest arriving at the beach and meeting their partners.
The program team gave each person a close-up and mischievously lingered on their faces for several seconds.
As the camera shifted from one face to another, it quickly landed on her. Jiang Shu unconsciously sat up straight, eager to see what expression she had at that moment. Suddenly, a spiraling bold comment appeared boldly on the screen—
