“Four hundred and fifty-six… so many?” Elder Bi Yu’s eyes widened in disbelief. This was more than double their original estimate.

“Hold your questions,” Xin Lan said, waving her hand to quiet the other elders who looked like they were ready to bombard her with inquiries. “Let me finish first. Once I explain, you’ll have all the answers you need.”

She continued swiftly, “Out of these four hundred and fifty-six, twenty-four have the potential to reach the Ninth Grade, one hundred and seven could potentially reach the Eighth Grade, and the rest all meet the qualifications to become outer disciples of our Wanhuang Sect.”

The other four elders were stunned by this revelation.

“What would you have done in my place? Would you have accepted them or not?” Xin Lan asked, looking at each of them.

“Of course, we’d accept them!” Elder Bi Yu replied after a moment’s thought, unable to find a reason to refuse.

The qualifications to reach the Ninth Grade were exceedingly rare; within the entire Wanhuang Sect, there were only a few such disciples. Wanchun Peak’s Yao Bingyu, Qingzhu Peak’s Jian Yuan, and Zixia Peak’s Lin Xier were the only ones currently known to have such potential.

The other three elders nodded in agreement, but before Xin Lan could respond, Elder Bi Yu raised a hand to signal her to wait. “I’ve already sent someone to inform the Sect Master. Let’s wait for her to arrive before you explain further.”

Though the other elders were impatient, they nodded in agreement. It would save time to explain everything only once.

Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait long for the Sect Master, Meng Changjin, to arrive. She had just finished a batch of pills when she was summoned, otherwise, the wait might have been longer.

Meng Changjin entered the hall quickly, carrying a faint scent of herbs on her. She took her seat at the head of the room. As she sat, the five elders suddenly began coughing violently.
