The Transmigrated Male Lead Confessed to Me - Chapter 22 (Part 2)
Su Zhen: “What if I told you it wasn’t him?”
Yuchen Xianzun: “Really? Then it must have been the Sect Leader?”
Chongyun Xianzun was in seclusion, and even if she’d emerged, she wouldn’t be wandering around Weiyun Peak with her in the middle of the night.
Su Zhen sneered coldly, “Does it have to be a cultivator? What if I told you I was with a certain Demon Lord back then—what would you do?”
Yuchen Xianzun: “?”
Yuchen Xianzun was silent for a moment. “Which one?”
Su Zhen: “……”
You actually asked?
“…Zhen’er, you’re still young, and some matters have not spread widely. I didn’t mention them before, as I don’t care to speak ill of others behind their backs. But if you insist on associating with him, I’ll give you a word of caution.”
After a pause, he continued, “Xiao Yu is a volatile character—his moods shift unpredictably, and he’s extremely cold-hearted. When he first joined the sect, he got into violent fights, frequently injuring others during competitions so severely that some took years to recover or even died at the hands of the demon clans. Once, he even stood by and watched as several senior members of Lingxiao Peak were slaughtered by demon cultivators, all because of a minor quarrel…”
Su Zhen scoffed, “Let me guess, Master considers what’s between me and Zhou Ziheng to be just a minor dispute as well?”
Yuchen Xianzun frowned slightly but did not immediately refute her.
Su Zhen spread her hands. “See?”
After speaking, she glanced at her hands, reflecting on how she’d picked up this gesture from Xiao Yu himself.
“Master doesn’t really know what happened between them, after all, since you’re not from Lingxiao Peak. Just like those rumors saying I despise my junior sister and want her expelled from the sect—Ha, thanks for the reminder, Master.”
Although she said this, her expression remained utterly calm.
Even if every example Yuchen Xianzun cited was entirely true, she wouldn’t care in the least.
In her past life, she had befriended quite a few demon cultivators. Among those close to her, though none went as far as slaughtering entire cities, they simply refrained from harming mortals.
But they had slaughtered countless other cultivators, for reasons that all boiled down to, “Because I felt like it.”
Any one of them could be held up as having a reputation more terrifying than Xiao Yu’s.
…Of course, this only applied to ruthlessness and indifference, not to sheer strength.
Yuchen Xianzun looked at her with a pained expression. “Zhen’er, don’t take this as a joke.”
“Master, do I look like I’m joking?”
Su Zhen stared blankly at him, “I know you mean well, but what else do you want from me? Should I swear an oath to never speak to anyone whose morals you find less than perfect?”
She continued in a mocking tone, “If it were someone else, they’d probably be thrilled to hear that their disciple was acquainted with the Sword God. They’d be eager for me to flatter him, to make sure everyone benefited. Master truly is different from the rest.”
Yuchen Xianzun shook his head slightly. “The stories told outside are, of course, the ones people find admirable. You’ve probably heard his past deeds and feel awe or admiration for him, so…”
“Wait.”
Su Zhen interrupted him, “Master, let me make it clear.”
As she spoke, she took out a jade slip, touched it lightly, and wrote seven bold characters:
—“Come to me and shatter the barrier.”
Infusing a bit of spiritual energy, she sent the message.
She hadn’t even finished tucking the jade slip back into the scented pouch at her waist when the entire courtyard suddenly shook violently.
A massive surge of deep, powerful spiritual energy crashed down, shattering layer upon layer of barriers in an instant.
Those unbreakable shields, strong enough to withstand high-level spells, fractured and disintegrated. Golden lights filled the air, drifting down like rain, only to quickly vanish.
Yuchen Xianzun looked stunned.
Su Zhen stood still, expression calm as ever, as she glanced down to see a shadow sliding across the ground, followed by a familiar voice.
“What’s going on?”
Xiao Yu walked over from behind her.
He had changed into a dark, silver-embroidered outfit with arrow sleeves, looking extremely dashing and sharp, as if he were dressed to go out.
Su Zhen gave him a surprised look. “It’s been only a moment, and you’ve already changed clothes?”
“It’s not…”
Xiao Yu tilted his head, looking at her. “Ahem, we’ll talk about it later. What’s happening?”
He spoke while turning to look, casting a complex gaze at the man dressed in white standing nearby.
Su Zhen, on the other hand, examined him carefully.
Xiao Yu had removed his hairpiece, and his long, thick, raven-black hair, with a slight wave to it, was tied loosely into a high ponytail, trailing down to his waist.
In his current outfit, he looked younger than ever—he always had the appearance of a man in his twenties, but now he could almost be mistaken for a spirited youth.
Perhaps she had been staring for a bit too long, because Xiao Yu turned back toward her, looking somewhat uneasy.
“Why, is something wrong?” he asked, a little self-conscious.
Su Zhen’s gaze shifted slightly, taking in his handsome, chiseled profile and the cold gleam of the white gemstone on his ear. “Nothing, really.”
Misinterpreting her intent, Xiao Yu raised a hand to touch his ear. “You like this? Here, take it. I’ll give it to you.”
Without hesitation, he removed his earring and offered it to her.
Su Zhen quickly waved her hand. “Senior, no, it’s just that the design is unusual, so I looked a bit longer. Oh, right, let’s get back to business.”
With that, she turned her gaze forward.
Standing under a tree, Yuchen Xianzun watched silently, with an expression that could only be described as vivid.
Su Zhen racked her brain but couldn’t think of a single word to describe his current look.
Xiao Yu had just put the earring back on when he noticed the green-clad girl beside him take a step back and bow formally to him.
Xiao Yu: “???”
Su Zhen’s expression was solemn as she spoke in a respectful tone, “Immortal Venerable, my master believes that having heard of your illustrious deeds, I must naturally feel great admiration and respect for you—”
She hadn’t finished when Xiao Yu’s eyes widened, and he suddenly turned to glare at Weiyun Peak’s head. “Are you out of your mind?”
He seemed genuinely angry, even smiling coldly with fury in his eyes, a steely gaze directed at the white-robed man under the tree.
“You, surnamed Xu, could you not tell it’s been me pursuing her all along? It’s me who admires and respects her! Say one more word, and I’ll flatten Weiyun Peak.”
The courtyard fell utterly silent, still enough to hear a pin drop.
Su Zhen asked curiously, “What about the people on Weiyun Peak?”
“Destroying the mountain without harming people isn’t hard for me. And restoring the mountain afterward is easy too.”
Xiao Yu said calmly, “Of course, everyone would survive. Ah, except for demons. If one of them dies, they are dead and will never be restored.”
Yuchen Xianzun’s face turned pale. “Xiao Yu, you—”
Su Zhen almost burst out laughing.
Xiao Yu crossed his arms. “Martial Nephew, is there something you wish to say? Is there a problem with killing demons?”
Yuchen Xianzun had no choice but to let the matter go. “Martial Uncle, I was only joking. There are no demons on Weiyun Peak.”
Xiao Yu shrugged indifferently. “Fine, if you say so.”
He raised his hand casually.
His palm was empty—he didn’t even summon his sword—merely forming a strange hand gesture as if he were just playing around.
It was so relaxed it almost seemed like he was just idly gesturing.
“Martial Uncle Xiao, this junior misspoke!”
Yuchen Xianzun nearly shouted, clearly rattled and no longer focused on why his senior had admiration for his own disciple.
Even Su Zhen was a bit taken aback.
She had argued with him countless times and seen him lose control, but never had she seen such sheer fear in his eyes.
But—
This was still about concern for Liu Yunyao.
Su Zhen found it both amusing and ironic. It made sense, after all—whenever he was angry, it was always because of that.
Xiao Yu lowered his hand. “What did you say wrong?”
Yuchen Xianzun paused in silence. “What I said earlier was incorrect. My disciple does not admire you. Instead—”
He hesitated, then said almost word by word, “It is you who admires her.”
Xiao Yu nodded in satisfaction.
Su Zhen: “……”
She had often seen people use their strength to intimidate others, but this was the first time she had seen someone go to such lengths, only to demand such a simple statement.
